Harvest & Processing
There are several different types of harvesting and processing equipment needed in a cannabis cultivation facility. Here are some of the most common types:
- Trimming Machines: Trimming machines are used to remove leaves and other unwanted material from the cannabis buds. There are both manual and automated trimming machines available, depending on the size and scale of the operation.
- Drying Racks: Drying racks are used to hang the cannabis plants upside down in a cool, dark room to dry. This process can take up to two weeks and is essential for preserving the quality of the cannabis.
- Curing Containers: Once the cannabis plants have been dried, they are placed in curing containers to cure for several weeks. Curing containers are typically airtight and made of glass or plastic, and the cannabis must be stored at the proper humidity and temperature to preserve its quality.
- Extraction Equipment: Extraction equipment is used to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from the cannabis plant. There are several different types of extraction methods, including solvent-based methods, such as butane and CO2 extraction, and solventless methods, such as rosin pressing.
- Packaging Equipment: Once the cannabis has been processed, it must be packaged for sale. Packaging equipment includes machines that can weigh and package cannabis in various forms, such as pre-rolls, flower, and concentrates.
- Lab Equipment: Lab equipment is used to test the potency and purity of the cannabis products. This may include equipment such as gas chromatographs, high-performance liquid chromatographs, and mass spectrometers.
- Storage Containers: Proper storage containers are needed to store the cannabis products before they are sold. Storage containers should be airtight and made of materials that do not interact with the cannabis, such as glass or stainless steel.
By using the right harvesting and processing equipment, growers can ensure that their cannabis products are of the highest quality and meet the regulatory requirements for sale.
